Identity-
Progressive Era Identity: The American identity has changed a ton over these time periods, the father or oldest man of the house would work outside of the home and make all the money for the family. In the home the mother would run the house she'd cook, clean, watch the children, and regulated everything inside the household. What makes American different now is that women are totally part of society and are aloud to vote. They have the freedom to work outside the house and don't have to always watch the children. Women also were able to go to school and get an actual education for themselves and go to college. What has stayed the same with our society is that our country does not believe that we can have a female president. Also women still do not have equal pay with men. The answer to the question what is an American has still stayed the same in this country because American is and always will be the home of the free to anyone no matter what color or ethnicity you are, man or woman. Work, Exchange and Technology: Once women got rights to vote and be a part in the community, it really changed the U.S because we could all work together as a whole and make big decisions. Women started working in factories and contributing to the work force. Peopling: Migration has made a lot of diversity and changes in American culture. Asians came to the Western side of the U.S and Europeans in the east. The Americans were not happy with the immigrants, most felt a strong sense of negativism. Politics and Power: Boss tweed, a huge political power, took advantage of almost all people. He acted like he cared about immigrants even when he didn't. When immigrants came to American, he would grab their attention and tell them that he would be there for them, and that he would help them start their new life here in American. Immigrants trusted him because he was so caring of them when in reality he didn't care about them at all. America and the World: In this time period America took over many foreign nations when we imperalised in Central America and we still have Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Environment and Geography: Once America built cities and factories, pollution started to build up. Also when American was imperializing, we took over other countries land and resources that wasn't ours and turned it into ours. Ideas, Beliefs, and Culture: Culture has been very important to people during this time especially because the immigrants that first moved here knew nothing else besides their background. American first didn't like immigrants and then soon to understand that America is full of different kinds of people and everyone has a different background. Imperialism Identity: The identity of America has not changed because our country will always be the land of the free. The reason why we have this title is because that is how I country became. Different people from different countries come together and create a strong country. American will always have the title of freedom and liberty and no one can take that away from us. Work, Exchange, and Technology: An example of great technology that was invented was the light bulb. Thomas Edison tested more than 3,000 designs of light bulbs and failed. Finally by 1879, Edison created his first working light bulb. The invention of the light bulb is helpful for anyone and everyone and was exchanged and used by everyone. Peopling: Once people migrated to America, some Americans didn't like having immigrants in our country. Once we all worked together we became a great and powerful free country. Politics and Power: Americans way of working was in politics and power, it was usually up to white men. Once women were aloud to vote, we were finally about to communicate and work things out as a country. Even though we didn't and still don't have a woman president, women are still aloud to be a part of the voting and power part of the politics system. America and the World: Our relationships with foreign countries was not as good as someone would think. America was trying to imperialize Latin American and the Caribbean and anything below America. We had many issues with other countries because of too much imperializing. Environment and Geography: America had a big part in imperializing areas and taking over land. For example, when we took Hawaii and imperialized it, we took pineapple just because I country wanted it. Ideas, Beliefs, and Culture: Americas idea of culture when it comes to immigrants is that everyone has the right to their own religion and has the right to believe in what they want. We made the message by showing off our country and how you cam have a better life here in America because you get freedom. |
